Andrew A. Cheng concentrates in workers’ compensation, personal injury, motor vehicle accidents, products liability, medical malpractice, wrongful termination, discrimination and harassment, and employment law.
After working for several years in the civil litigation section at Kessner Umebayashi Bain & Matsunaga, one of Hawaii’s larger insurance defense law firms, Mr. Cheng joined Robinson & Chur as of counsel in 2011 where the main focus of his practice is representing injured employees in workers’ compensation matters. He joined the firm as a shareholder and director on January 1, 2015. He has the unique perspective of having represented both claimants and plaintiffs, and insurance companies and defendants. He brings extensive and broad-based litigation experience to the firm, having litigated cases at the Disability Compensation Division and Labor and Industrial Relations Appeals Board, Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, state and federal courts at the District Court, Circuit Court, and appellate levels, and the Hawaii Civil Rights Commission, and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Mr. Cheng is a graduate of Punahou, Wheaton College, and the William S. Richardson School of Law, University of Hawai`i. He has published law review articles addressing constitutional, first amendment, and religious freedom issues. He is married and the father of two children.
