Bob Rutter has over 30 years of experience successfully fighting insurance companies on behalf of policyholders. Along the way he has become a nationally recognized leader in insurance coverage law, personally arguing and winning two landmark cases before the Ohio Supreme Court which helped define insurance bad faith in the state.
Bob started his insurance law career on the other side of the fence, working for a firm that represented insurance companies. After learning how insurance companies operated, Bob switched sides to co-found Rutter & Russin in 1991. He dedicated his practice to achieving justice for policyholders across the Midwest who have been wronged by the very same insurance companies they thought would protect them in their time of need.
Bob's expertise is well-known among his peers. A sought-after speaker, Bob has traveled across the country lecturing on insurance law and has published articles in multiple legal journals. He's one of only 25 lawyers in Ohio certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a Specialist in Insurance Coverage Law, and has been elected to the following leadership positions by colleagues in his field:
- Chair, Insurance Coverage Specialization Committee, Ohio State Bar Association
- Chair, Insurance Law Committee, Ohio State Bar Association
- Chair, Insurance Law Section, Ohio Association for Justice
While proud of his awards and recognitions, Bob's greatest reward is the feeling of accomplishment he gets from helping individuals, families and businesses achieve justice against their insurance companies. It's what motivated him to start Rutter & Russin over a quarter-century ago, and hundreds of successful cases later, what keeps him inspired and energetic today.
