Charlcee Small manages the firm’s criminal defense practice group. She focuses exclusively on criminal defense, representing clients who have been accused of felonies, misdemeanors, traffic offenses and juvenile offenders, including post-conviction relief. She brings substantial experience to the firm, having worked in the criminal justice system exclusively since law school.
>Charlcee began her career at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Arkansas, drafting briefs presented to the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals on behalf of the federal government. To gain more trial experience, Charlcee left the federal government for a position as a deputy prosecuting attorney with the Benton County Prosecutor’s Office in Bentonville. During her three years as a prosecutor, she tried over 500 cases involving both criminal and traffic matters. Since transitioning to private practice, Charlcee has tried several cases in district, circuit and federal courts, including defending her clients in jury trials in both state and federal court.
Prior to attending law school, Charlcee attended the University of Arkansas, graduating in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. In May 2011, Charlcee received her Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas School of Law. While in law school, she worked in the Juvenile Criminal Defense Clinic, representing youth charged with criminal violations in front of Judge Stacey Zimmerman in Washington County Circuit Court, Division 3. She also served as a judicial intern for Washington County Circuit Court Judge Kim Smith and as an extern with the U.S. Department of Justice.
Charlcee is licensed to practice law in Arkansas. She is also admitted to practice in the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas U.S. District Courts. She is an active member of the Arkansas Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys (“AACDL”). Charlcee has been quoted in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
Originally from Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Charlcee moved to Fayetteville when she was 18 to attend college and has lived in the NWA area since 2004. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, attending Razorback sporting events and entertaining friends and family.
