Christopher G. Hill is a LEED AP, Virginia Supreme Court certified General District Court mediator, and construction attorney in Richmond, Virginia. Chris has been nominated and elected by his peers to Virginia’s Legal Elite- Construction Law on multiple occasions (2007 through 2021) and has been named to the Virginia Super Lawyers Rising Stars (2011 and 2012) and to the Virginia Super Lawyers in Construction Litigation for the years 2017 through 2021. He served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Virginia State Bar Construction Law and Public Contracts Section (2011-2018) and is a current member and Treasurer of the Section Council for the Construction and Public Contracts Law Section of the Virginia Bar Association.

Chris practices extensively in all areas of risk management for construction professionals including litigation when required.  Specific areas of practice include mechanic’s liens, payment and performance bond claims under the Miller Act and Virginia’s “Little Miller Act,” sustainable (“green”) building, occupational safety issues, construction contract review, flat fee service as outside “in house counsel,” local counsel and registered agent services for construction companies located both inside and outside of Virginia, arbitration, and mediation.

Chris started his own firm in July of 2010 after 13 years of extensive courtroom and counseling experience at the Virginia Attorney General’s Office and two private firms.  He made the move in order to better serve his construction clients and directly meet the needs of contractors and other construction and design professionals in Virginia.

Chris truly enjoys representing contractors in Virginia, whether those construction companies are based in Virginia or based elsewhere, and perform work in Virginia.  He represents all types of construction professionals including general contractors, subcontractors, engineers, and material suppliers.

The firm is a member of the Associated General Contractors of Virginia and Chris is a member of the Executive Committee of the Richmond Chapter of the AGC-VA.  Chris also serves as a member of the national AGC Contract Documents Committee where he gains insight and input into the drafting of nationally utilized form contract documents, and the Marketing Forum where he helps the AGC maximize the marketing and business potential for contractors.

Chris’s experience in representing both private companies and one of the largest agencies of the Commonwealth of Virginia during his time with the Virginia Attorney General’s Office has given him knowledge of both the private and public aspects of legal representation.  He uses this insight to give his clients both practical and legally sound advice during their interactions with both private companies and state agencies.  His years of concentration in the construction industry enable him to assist his construction clients to anticipate potential challenges and help them to prepare for and ultimately overcome those business challenges in an efficient and practical manner.

In addition to his membership in the Virginia Bar, Chris is admitted to practice before the Federal District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the District of Columbia Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U. S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia.
