Colby Hearn is a strategic trial lawyer representing clients in a broad range of civil, business, corporate, real estate, health care, and commercial litigation matters including non-compete issues, contractual disputes, brokerage disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes, criminal matters, and personal injury matters including auto accidents, wrongful death, premises liability incidents, and defective products.
He has an active litigation practice and has advocated in numerous civil trials and arbitrations regarding complex business, commercial, financial and contractual disputes. Also, he represents clients in drafting contracts, releases, agreements and other legal documents.
Prior to founding Hearn Law, Colby Hearn was a Partner in the litigation department at Johnson Pope Bokor Ruppel & Burns, LLP, where he practiced for over eight years. He began his career serving the people of the State of Florida as an Assistant State Attorney in the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Florida for over three years. During that time, he litigated thousands of cases ranging from white-collar crime (e.g., fraud, conspiracy, theft, embezzlement) to violent offenses (e.g., first degree murder, robbery, aggravated battery). He brought over forty jury trials to verdict, and advocated before the Grand Jury to a successful indictment in a capital case. Based on his vast trial experience, he was selected as the Lead Trial Attorney, and presented awards for Excellence in Prosecution by RID of Tampa Bay and for Outstanding Service as a Prosecutor.
In addition to practicing law, he has served as a Trial Advocacy Skills Instructor at Stetson University College of Law. He coached Stetson’s nationally recognized Trial Team to a first-place finish in the Florida Justice Association’s Mock Trial Competition.
