Mr. Roston practiced law in Chicago for thirty-three years prior to relocating to Iowa City. For twenty years he was a partner in the international law firm of Altheimer & Gray concentrating his practice in business litigation. During that time he successfully litigated matters involving a wide range of business problems including the successful resolution of lawsuits including
- price fixing in the industrial gas, vinegar and pharmaceutical industries
- defense of price discrimination claim in the sale of an industrial product
- representation of shareholders in reorganizations of private and publicly held corporations
- reinsurance fraud

Mr. Roston also spent several years in representing employers in connection with ERISA and other employee benefit matters and representing the manager of institutional real estate investments in connection with the management of the investors’ real estate assets.
During his career Mr. Roston came to understand the importance of focusing on the essentials of his clients legal concerns. That focus enabled him to develop the expertise in unfamiliar substantive areas necessary to provide appropriate advice and advocacy. Mr. Roston’s decision to assist families navigating through the special education system is founded on his long experience in representing clients with diverse problems. He understands the needs of children from his experience with his autistic grandson and his experience as a high school teacher with special needs students.
Mr. Roston is licensed to practice law in the states of Iowa and Illinois. In addition he has been admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeal for the Third and Seventh Circuits, and the United States Tax Court.
