Douglas Lipsky is a co-founding partner of Lipsky Lowe LLP. He has extensive experience in all areas of employment law, including discrimination, sexual harassment, hostile work environment, retaliation, wrongful discharge, breach of contract, unpaid overtime, and unpaid tips. He regularly represents individuals in state and federal court. He, additionally, regularly represents clients in complex wage and hour claims, including collective actions under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and class actions under the laws of many different states.

Doug also advises corporate clients on matters relating to harassment, the development and implementation of employment contracts, employee handbooks, personnel policies, reductions-in-force, independent contractor agreements and compliance with Title VII, ADEA, ADA, FMLA, USERRA, and other federal, state and local employment statutes.


Prior to becoming a co-founding partner of Lipsky Lowe, Doug and Chris Lowe worked together at the New York office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP, a premier nationwide labor and employment law firm.


Doug is widely and highly respected amongst his peers. New York Super Lawyer Magazine has named him a Super Lawyer for every year since 2011, including for 2021. No more than 2.5% of the lawyers in New York are named to this list.

Doug has been Court-appointed class counsel in several class and collective actions, including Huziankou v. NY Sweet Spot Cafe Inc., 1:18-cv-5715 (E.D.N.Y.); Owens v. Fresh Direct LLC, 1:14-cv-1909 (S.D.N.Y.) (representing over 3,200 class members); Rivera v. Whole Foods Market Group, Inc., Index No. 651559/2019/2014; Chime v. Peak Sec. Plus, Inc., No. 13-cv-470 (WFK) (VVP), 2015 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 131727 (E.D.N.Y. Sept. 9, 2015) (represenging over 400 security guards); Donnelly v. Peter Luger of Long Island, Inc., 2:13-cv-1377 (E.D.N.Y.); Spencer v. No Parking Today, Inc., 1:12-cv-6323 (S.D.N.Y.) (representing over 1,000 members), Stillman v. Read and Succeed, LLC, et al., 1:12-cv-3856 (E.D.N.Y.), Ceka v. PBM/CMSI Inc., et al., 1:12-cv-1711 (S.D.N.Y.); Gay v. Tri-Wire Engineering Solutions, Inc., 1:12-cv-2231 (E.D.N.Y.).


Mr. Lipsky is also serving as lead counsel in many pending class actions, including the class action against Amazon for testing job applicants for marijuana: Thomas v. Amazon.Com, Inc., 1:21-cv-1325 (E.D.N.Y.).

Doug is an experienced trial attorney. For example, in August 2016, he represented a class of 400+ security guards in the class action Chime v. Peak Security Plus, Inc. (E.D.N.Y) and the jury found for the Class on all claims.

Doug has presented on numerous legal issues and developments, including presenting to the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers on employment law and the FLSA.


Doug received his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law, cum laude (2003). He received dual undergraduate degrees, in Finance and Political Science, from the University of Arizona (2000). He is admitted to practice law in the States of New York and New Jersey.


Additionally, Doug is an Associate Board Member of City Year New York, a non-profit organization that provides tutors, mentors and role models to inner-city schools throughout New York.
