Lee S. Ashmore is a Brunswick divorce attorney whose practice has been devoted to family law for 20 years.  He is a family law specialist who has developed his expertise in family law by litigating over 500 family law cases in the courts, as well as negotiating and drafting hundreds of settlement agreements.

 

Mr. Ashmore was born in Brunswick, Georgia, on March 9, 1960. He served in the United States Army, graduating from the United States Military’s Foreign Language School in Monterey, California, and serving as a Signals Intelligence Analyst in Augsburg, Germany.

 

He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Virginia Tech in 1989 with a B.A. in history. At Virginia Tech he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, the most prestigious undergraduate honor society in the United States.  While at Virginia Tech he served on the Montgomery County Central Committee.

Mr. Ashmore received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1992. He served as president of both the Virginia Employment and Labor Law Association and the Law Student Advocacy Project.  He was a board member of the Legal Aid Association.  He participated in the Family Law Clinic and Moot Court. He was selected to advise incoming law students as a peer advisor.

 

He has practiced family law from 1993 to the present, litigating over 500 family law cases in the courts. He has completed the 40 hour mediator training program and the 20 hour family law mediator training program. He has served as an instructor in the mediator training program and the family law mediator training program. He has served as a mediator for the EEOC, mediating 74 cases.

 

On a national level, Mr. Ashmore has served as chair of the American Bar Association’s Domestic Relations and Family Law Litigation Committee. He has also served as editor of the American Bar Association’s Family Law Litigation Newsletter. He has been awarded the American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation’s prestigious Star Award.

 

He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, as well as the Family Law Section of the State Bar.  He also serves as a member of the Judicial Procedure and Administrative/Uniform Rules Committee of the State Bar of Georgia. He has been an officer of the Glynn County Bar Association, and a member of the American Bar Association’s Family Law Section and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.  He is a current member of the American Bar Association’s Marital Property Committee.  Mr. Ashmore serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate and a Guardian at Litem in the Juvenile Court.

 

Mr. Ashmore is a former ambassador for the Glynn County Chamber of the Commerce.
