Orlando F. Cabanday is the principal and owner of the Cabanday Law Group and represents a variety of clients in wrongful termination, intellectual property, consumer fraud, and other complex litigation matters at both the trial and appellate court levels. Orlando also represents clients in connection with government investigations and provides general counsel to small to mid-size companies and high net-worth individuals.

 

He has tried matters in federal and state courts throughout the nation, including trials venued in Arizona, Florida and Nevada. He has taken to verdict or bench decision over seventy contested matters. He currently manages a multi-disciplined trial practice where he typically is retained by other attorneys for already pending matters to take to trial. During his tenure with the firm, Orlando already tried several contested matters in state and federal court.

 

His reported decisions include the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals opinion in Watec v. Chia Liu 403 F. 3d 645 (9th Cir. 2005) wherein, after a month long trial, he obtained a $5.9 million trademark infringement verdict for his client. The jury found that his client, a Japanese camera manufacturer, established national senior common law rights in the subject trademarks which trumped the incontestable registrations issued by United States Patent and Trademark Office to the defendant.

Before forming CLG, Orlando was Senior Trial Counsel to a prominent Orange County Law Firm. Before moving his practice, Orlando was an equity partner in a boutique law firm concentrating on trial work.

 

In addition to his accomplishments in the Courtroom, he is active with the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association and the American Bar Association, where he is a civil litigation section member. He has served on the managing board of the Barristers with the Los Angeles County Bar. Orlando has written several articles on intellectual property and trial issues for seminars for the Urban Development League. He has been recognized as a Southern California Rising Star by Super Lawyers and by the Chamber of Commerce USA as a leader in the field of intellectual property litigation.
