Tyson's successes with the Spence Firm include a $28.5 million verdict for a carbon monoxide poisoning brain injury; a $10 million wrongful death settlement; a $4.15 million settlement in a carbon monoxide poisoning wrongful death and brain injury case; a $12 million settlement in a burn injury case causing complex regional pain syndrome; another $5.8 million settlement in an industrial accident burn injury case; a $2 million judgment in a CO poisoning brain injury case; a $1.95 million settlement for a carbon monoxide poisoning brain injury case (mid-trial); and a $5 million settlement in a medical malpractice case.
Tyson relentlessly fights for justice on behalf of clients and has extensive experience helping clients suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning, brain injury, chronic pain, and burn injury. He is also a determined advocate for the families of individuals wrongfully killed as a result of corporate negligence and misconduct.

Tyson has represented clients across the country in Wyoming, Montana, New Mexico, Idaho, Colorado, Utah, California, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, Alaska, and Nebraska in serious personal injury cases. In one of the largest verdicts in the United States in 2013, Tyson obtained a $28.5 million verdict, with Spence partner Bryan Ulmer, for a young woman who suffered a brain injury after being poisoned by carbon monoxide from a dangerous furnace in her apartment. In recent years, Tyson has handled countless other CO poisoning and brain injury cases and recovered tens of millions for his injured clients.
He is actively litigating a number of other complex catastrophic injury and CO poisoning cases including class action litigation involving large-scale carbon monoxide poisoning in commercial buildings and hotels around the country.
Tyson has been distinguished with a number of honors and awards. Recently, he was included in the 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 Super Lawyers® list and has been previously chosen for inclusion in the Super Lawyers® Rising Stars list in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 in the Mountain States. He is a member of the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers and previously the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40. Tyson is a teacher at the Trial Lawyers College, where he returns every year to train other lawyers on becoming better trial lawyers. He also travels the country, leading seminars and conducting presentations for fellow legal professionals on everything from trial strategies to carbon monoxide poisoning facts to communication skills. Most recently Tyson presented to trial lawyer groups in Wyoming, New Mexico, and North Carolina about mindfulness and effective communication in trial. During the pandemic, he presented to the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association “Litigating in 2020 and Beyond” on the challenges of trial and litigation with technology and communication in this new era. He presented “Zen Under Fire: Mindfulness for the Busy Trial Lawyer” at the 2018 New Mexico State Bar Annual Meeting. Tyson also presented to lawyers on Mindfulness in the Courtroom, and trial advocacy at the Wyoming Bar Association’s Annual Conference in September 2017. Tyson has also spoken with numerous groups around the country on communication, mindfulness, and meditation for trial lawyers, including presentations to the Melvin Belli Society, 360 Advocacy, and the Trial Lawyers College.
Tyson lives in Jackson, Wyoming with his wife and two boys. He enjoys exploring the mountains and trips to the ocean with his family when he is not in trial.
